That's me, but I'm guessing you've probably figured that out.
I grew up north of Boston, where I went from delivering the local newspaper to writing a weekly column for its high school page. Later, at Boston University, I became the executive producer of a student-run TV newsmagazine, hosted a radio show, and wrote a humor column for the student paper. An internship at CNN International led to my first full-time job at CNN in Atlanta. More on that here.
I left CNN just before my first child was born and took the toughest but most rewarding job of my career: stay-at-home dad. During sanity breaks (my kids' nap times), I did a little blogging and wrote a good number of children's books, including the news-based picture book series ANIMAL BITES. Many of my other works are still looking for a publisher, so if you happen to know/be one, please contact me below.
I also spent nine years on my building's three-person Board of Managers, and served as Scout leader (I'm an Eagle), church volunteer, and facilitator for a young families group. These days I run an outreach project that provides bagged lunches for our homeless neighbors. I also have assisted with organizing twice-a-month Write Nites for the local chapter of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
Lately I've been putting much of my writing efforts into scripts for a podcast called WHO SMARTED?. I have loved this work, but it's still freelancing, so I'm always looking for other great opportunities.
Let's get to know each other! Send me an email, or fill out the form below. Thanks!
